The world’s oceans the greatest source of food: Beloved endangered fishGottfried Friedrichs supports sustainable fishing
Water plays a crucial role on our “blue planet”. Not only because it is predominantly covered by the great oceans but also because water is the source of all life. For many millennia, the oceans have been providing man with an almost boundless supply of food in the form of fish as a basic staple. According to the
MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) fish is the most important type of food for around 2.6 billion people today. Yet, the steady growth in the world’s population, overfishing of the oceans and climatic change are placing limits on the availability of this natural resource.
Three quarters of all fish stocks are acutely endangered or overfished. Sustained fishing and ecological aquacultures make an indispensable contribution to protecting and preserving global fish stocks in the long term. Organizations such as MSC or
Naturland support these efforts by formulating strict environmental criteria and issuing seals of quality.
As a pioneer in Germany, FRIEDRICHS offers a large number of
MSC-certified and
Naturland organic products. In this way, we allow consumers to actively support sustainable fishing and the protection of the oceans.
